Rankings: Top 5 Welterweights

1. Georges St. Pierre

The UFC's Welterweight Champion may not just be the best fighter in his weight class, but the best fighter in the world. With only two losses in his mixed martial arts career coming at the hands of Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, St. pieerre has fought some of the best talent in the world. With wins over Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, Matt Hughes, Matt Serra, BJ Penn and Thiago Alves, the UFC is currently struggling to find opponents for this Canadian goldenboy. His next fight will be against Jake Shields in Toronto Ontario.

2. Jake Shields

Though coming off of a controversial decision win over Martin Kampmann, Shields has proven with 16 straight victories that he is one of the best in the world. Holding notable wins in both the welterweight and middleweight division, Shields has defeated the likes of Dan Henderson, Jason 'Mayhem' Miller and Yushin Okami. His biggest test to date will be against UFC Welterweight superstar Georges St. Pierre.

3. Martin Kampmann

The Hitman may be the most underrated fighter in the world. Also having wins in welterweight and middleweight, Kampmann has defeated fighters Jorge Rivera, Thales Leites, Carlos Condit and Paulo Thiago. Kampmann most recently fought Diego Sanchez and lost an extremely controversial decision. Kampmann has been robbed in his last two outings, hopefully he has better luck in the next.

4. Jon Fitch

Jon Fitch is the most boring fighter in the world, he wins fights by laying on his opponents and grinding out a decision. He last fought to a draw with BJ Penn. It was unexciting, obviously.

5. Josh Koscheck

After a devastating loss at the hand (lead jab) of Georges St. Pierre, Josh Koscheck will need some time off to heal up. But look for him to be right back in the mix when he gets back, maybe a fight against Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves or HOPEFULLY Dan Hardy.
