Rankings: Top 5 Pound-For-Pound

These rankings take weight out of consideration. These rankings only factor in technical ability and the ability to apply strength.

1. Georges St. Pierre

The UFC welterweight Champion is currently toying with the idea of moving to Middleweight to take on the champion...But first, GSP will take on Jake Shield's, a former champion in his own right and undefeated in 15 fights. Shield's may be the biggest test to date for St. Pierre, but I expect the champ to beat the Strikeforce alum.
St. Pierre displayed in his last fight against Josh Koscheck that he was more than just a wrestler, attempting only a few takedowns and using a well established jab to batter the challenger's eye. For 5 rounds, St. Pierre punched a fractured orbital bone en route to a Unanimous Decision victory.

2. Anderson Silva

With unmatched striking ability, Anderson Silva is not only one of the best fighters in the world today, but of all time. Silva displayed this most recently against former two-division UFC champion, Vitor Belfort. With a front kick to the face, Silva earned himself a highlight reel knock-out over a very tough opponent.

Although being nearly beaten by Chael Sonnen, Anderson has never lost a fight in the UFC and has set records for both consecutive wins and consecutive title defenses.

3. Alistair Overeem

There is no fighter in the world that has the ability to move from winning a mixed martial arts title to winning the K-1 Grand Prix. He is the best striker in MMA.

After battering the life out of Brett Rogers, Alistair went on to win the K-1 World Grand Prix kickboxing tournament. After that (all within the same year I might add) he knocked out former UFC heavyweight Todd Duffee in the first round to win the DREAM heavyweight championship.

4. Jose Aldo

UFC champion Jose Aldo is one of the best strikers in MMA, training with Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and Feijao Cavalcante probably doesn't hurt that. Aldo has only lost one fight in his MMA career and since joining the WEC (and subsequently the UFC), he has been facing the toughest opponents available.

We will see if Aldo's striking stands up against a kickboxing dynamo when the champ face Mark Hominick in Toronto, Ontario

5. Rashad Evans

This Light Heavyweight has lost only one fight. His future in the UFC is currently uncertain. Formerly holding the UFC title, Evans' friend and training partner Jon Jones stepped in to face the champ Shogun Rua at UFC 128. While saying they will not face eachother, Evans may be forced to change divisions...again.

His only lsos came at the hands of Lyoto Machida, who at the time was arguably the best striker in MMA.
