Rankings: Top 5 Lightweights

1. Frankie Edgar

Until Gray Maynard beats this little energizer bunny, he'll remain at the top of this list. With two convincing wins over BJ Penn, Edgar solidified himself not only as a top lightweight, but as a top ten pound for pound fighter. As a fighter that could easily fight at 135 lbs, remaining at 155 is a ballsy move, and Edgar deserves the credit for his accomplishment.

2. Gray Maynard

With a victory over Frankie Edgar in their first fight, and a draw coming in their second, Gray Maynard gets a third crack at the champion and I expect a victory from the massive lightweight. A dominant wrestler with a win over Kenny Florian, Gray Maynard remains undefeated in his MMA career.

3. Anthony Pettis

Coming off a victory over top lightweight Ben Henderson and being the last WEC Lightweight Champion, Pettis will get his shot at the UFC title just as soon as their is a clear champion. Showtime shocked the world with the freakiest kick ever thrown in MMA nearly knocking out Henderson.

4. Jim Miller

Jim Miller is the most underrated lightweight fighter in the world. Time after time Miller takes out contenders and has only lost to Maynard and Edgar. Somehow, a title shot eludes him. It might be due to his douchey personality.

5. Ben Henderson

Former WEC lightweight champion, Benson Henderson enters the UFC as a top contender. Coming off a loss to Anthony Pettis, the former champ has yet to be signed to fight in MMA's top promotion.
